I'm Off Traveling Again!

I have a British friend arriving at 4:30am tomorrow morning and we are off traveling for 9 days around Uzbekistan.  It's the perfect time of year to get around as the day time temperatures hover around 22 degrees and overnight it dips into the teens.  Last year when I followed the same itinerary, I found it got quite a bit colder as I moved westward.   I've switched things up this time around though as we'll be traveling east to west and will be using cars most of the way and finishing with a domestic flight rather than an overnight train ride.  It cost about double the price to fly but we save 26 hours of travel which means we can cram in a little bit more adventure!

This week the Tashkent International Photography Club met for their 3rd meeting and their first opportunity to share their efforts for the first project - Colours.   Each member bought 10 photos to share and the members discussed the merits of each before deciding upon eachother's 'best' photograph.   I found the project extremely difficult which surprised me as at first I though it would be so easy to just choose a colour and photograph it.  It was a real challenge for me as I quickly found that simply photographing red objects was not rewarding and I didn't make an interesting image.   By the end of the 4th week I ended up with an ecclectic collection of photos to share.  I didn't ever manage to get a 'masterpiece' photo but I think the project forced me to better consider how I can represent the subject of a photo.  Here are a few of my entries:
